Frequently Asked Questions

  • First and foremost, wear something that makes you feel like YOU! We want to capture your authentic self.

For professional headshots, try a business casual look with a pop of authenticity. Think: a blazer and button down with a pop of color, be it earrings, a pocket square, or something else that feels right!

For actors, authenticity is even more important. Wear something similar to what you like to wear on audition days. A signature color, clothing item, or general vibe is a great place to start.

General tips: Solid colors photography better than stripes and patterns in most cases. Layers and depth look great in photos, so try layering with a jacket, sweater, or blazer. Remember, we will only see your top half! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and consider your choice of pants. Some people prefer to wear comfy bottoms and feel cozy, and some prefer to wear bottoms that match their outfit so that they “feel” their outfit more.

When in doubt, bring multiple options! We can look through them together on your shoot day and try some different shots to see what you love the most.

  • My advice for this is similar to my advice for clothes. Do what makes YOU feel comfortable and at ease. If you enjoy wearing makeup, feel free! If the thought of makeup scares you, there is no need to worry about it.

If you decide to do makeup, consider a timeless look that emphasizes your features. Sometimes basic products can help to emphasize your natural beauty. A little bit of eyeliner can help to make your eyes pop, while blush can prevent you from becoming too washed out.

For actors: Do your makeup as you would for an audition. If you have a signature makeup look (ex. heavy eyeliner, bright lipstick, etc.) consider wearing that on the day of your shoot. If you do not wear makeup to auditions, consider not wearing makeup for your shoot, or just doing basic makeup to help accentuate your features for the camera.

If you would like additional help with basic makeup, please contact me.

  • Once you fill out the contact form on my website, I will contact you to learn more about your goals and will send you a questionnaire. After seeing your responses, I will send you a line-by-line invoice including all costs. At this point you can approve the invoice, or we can rework it to better fit your needs.

After you approve the invoice, we will schedule your shoot day. Shoots will happen in the mornings/early afternoons, and occur at my home in downtown Boston.

On the day of your shoot, we will meet at my apartment. We will sit and chat for awhile about what you’re feeling regarding the photos, and how I can best support you through the shoot. When you feel ready, we will start shooting.

The shooting set up will consist of a grey or blue backdrop, box lights, and natural light. I will take photos with my camera and will not use a tripod. Generally I ask clients to stand for these photos, as it reads with more flow. If that is not possible or preferred for you, I will have a chair/stool for you to sit on. I have a bluetooth speaker you can connect to to play your favorite music while we shoot.

I will take a lot of pictures during the shoot. It may seem excessive! I will ask you to try out some poses, and photograph and poses that you have in mind. Generally, the goal is to create a comfortable atmosphere and keep shooting throughout the session.

If you have brought multiple outfits (which I recommend!) We will try different combinations and take photos in different outfits.

Once the session ends, you are free to go about your day! I will send you a gallery through my photo client, Pixieset. These images will be watermarked and unedited. I will send you all the photos from your session, excluding ones with closed eyes/duplicates/etc. You will have one week to look through these images and favorite the ones that you would like to have.

I will do minor edits on the photos you select to make them shine. You will only receive unwatermarked final copies of the images you select. You will not receive the full library of unedited photos. If you would like additional retouching on your photos (teeth whitening, eye enhancement, etc.) that is available for an additional fee per photo.

You can expect to receive your final photos within 3 weeks of your shoot date. If you need your photos sooner, I can expedite the process to work with your timeline for an additional fee.

I look forward to working with you!

  • You will receive an album of raw, unedited, watermarked images after your shoot. You will favorite the photos you would like final copies of, and I will send you those favorite photos in a usable, edited file format. To protect my brand image, I do not give unwatermarked unedited images to clients.

  • 50% of the total cost is due withing 1 week of receiving your invoice. The other 50% is due before receiving your watermarked unedited image gallery.
